Scrap Lead Prices Per Kilo 2012

Recycling scrap lead can be a lucrative business or hobby. Lead is easy to recycle and is more valuable than other base metals like steel and iron making it worthwhile to recover lead scrap. Of the approximately 8 billion tons of lead produced each year about half of that comes from recycling. How lucrative lead recycling is will depend on the price dealers are willing to pay for lead scrap.

As of the end of May 2012 the price of lead was approximately $1.88 per kilo, unfortunately if you sell scrap lead to a scrap dealer, depending on the type of scrap you sell, you will probably only make about half that amount of money on your scrap, about 90 cents.

Scrap lead prices per kilo can change rapidly however. Lead in used in many industrial applications such as batteries, bullets and radiation shields, and the price of lead will reflect the strength in the economy, when the economy and is doing well and industrial orders are up the price of lead will often follow.
